Organization Description

The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) is the leader in early reading professional development. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Southeast Michigan, IMSE has trained more than 260,000 teachers throughout the United States. As the pioneer of delivering face-to-face and live online Orton-Gillingham (OG) curriculum and training to general education classrooms, IMSE’s instructors have helped to make millions of new readers. IMSE has over 60 Master Instructors, all of whom are educators with a minimum of a master’s degree, certification through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction, and experience teaching Orton-Gillingham in the classroom. They understand the complexities of differentiating and integrating OG in any setting. IMSE’s Master Instructors are some of the most engaging, powerful presenters in the field. IMSE has the skill and capabilities to fulfill the literacy training needs of teachers.

IMSE specializes in professional development that incorporates hands-on multisensory instruction. IMSE Impact includes three courses: Phonological Awareness, Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Plus, and Morphology Plus. These courses are designed to meet the needs of educators and paraeducators in general education, special education, and remedial settings.

After training, IMSE also offers an extensive support system to provide teachers with tools and resources to continue mastering the art of teaching children to read once they return to their classrooms. IMSE has a private social platform through which educators can communicate with one another. This communication platform allows educators to share situations, challenges, and solutions; it is monitored by certified IMSE trainers. In addition to this collaborative network, IMSE also provides educators who complete the Comprehensive OG Plus Course with access to Interactive Orton-Gillingham (IOG), an online lesson planning tool to help differentiate instruction. IOG also includes an assessment tool to track student progress. IMSE also has a series of practice books and decodable readers for classroom implementation. Customizable slides and other digital resources are available as well.
